   • The share of women in computer science started falling at roughly the same moment when personal computers started showing up in U.S. homes in significant numbers.
2. Why does it matter that males had been playing on computers growing up?
   • They built a techie culture and were assumed to have been playing with computers they were growing up. In the ’70s, that never would have happened: Professors in intro classes assumed their students came in with no experience. But by the ’80s, that had changed.

   • Diversity efforts are most successful when they’re driven by a commitment from company leaders.

   • Diverse groups of people bring to organizations more and different ways of seeing a problem and, thus, faster/better ways of solving it.
3. Give an example of how a diverse company can serve a diverse user base or vise-versa.
   • Having different cultural backgrounds gives insite into others lives. This makes for an environment conducive to creating content, services and solutions that better represent the cultures of the diverse workforces core design. This means that the people in the target markets feel an inclusivity that otherwise would not be present.
